Convert American Express bank statement PDF to Excel
American Express statements are credit-card documents first. Purchases tend to appear as positive amounts, payments and credits reduce the balance, and the summary carries a previous balance and a new balance. GetBankExcel treats that as a card: charges increase the balance, payments decrease it, and the check is opening plus charges minus payments. The table still has Debit and Credit columns so a purchase and a payment are not mashed into one unlabeled number.
Descriptions on these PDFs are often uppercase merchant names, sometimes with a city. Words on the same horizontal line stay together. A second line without a date is appended to the description above it, which is how a wrapped merchant name survives. Page numbers and repeated headers are dropped so they do not become transactions.
American Express does not endorse this converter. Your PDF is parsed on the server, then discarded. Only an encrypted copy of the parsed rows is kept, and only until the short expiry. Download CSV if you want a flat file, or Excel if you want typed dates and a Summary sheet with the check result. Look at highlighted rows before you treat the file as finished.

Does the Excel file include the balance check?
Yes. The Transactions sheet holds the rows. The Summary sheet records opening, closing, totals, and whether the check passed.
